To any potential foster or adopter:
For Spike it is all about establishing a “human bond”. It may not happen immediately; he needs time to develop a level of trust and bond with you at his own pace. You should not force things upon him and respect his personal space. Spike is a different dog outside his cage and is more relax and calm. Keeping Spike in his comfort zone is critical for him and you. If you do all these things, he will respond as you see in this video. He is food motivated, so additional positive reinforcement training should be easy to accomplish. Personally for me, his ideal home would be with one whom has past dog behavior skills and is strong physically and emotionally. Also young toddlers might represent a problem with him, preferably teenage children for him. Spike seems to do well with other dogs, not sure about cats, you can contact the shelter for a cat test. Spike can be a loyal and protective companion for you, if you give him an opportunity. Thanks for reading
